President
Inland Environmental Resources
Dr. Doug Kelley is the President of Inland Environmental Resources, Inc. (IER), and is a member of WEF, CWEA, and the American Chemical Society. Doug has 30 years of experience in the water and wastewater industry. His passion for chemistry is rooted in the understanding that Mother Nature still has much to teach us. For instance, how do Fe atoms in hemoglobin reversibly bind O2 when all other natural interactions of Fe and O2 lead to rust? Doug graduated from Iowa State University in 1990 with a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry, studying the metabolic mechanisms of model-compounds of metalloenzymes. His expertise is in the development of cost-effective applications of environmentally-friendly chemistries for water and wastewater treatment, such as the use of magnesium hydroxide-based additives for odor and corrosion control. Dr. Kelley holds numerous patents on corrosion and scale control chemistries. IER is based in Spokane, WA, and Doug resides with his family in Wenatchee, WA.
