Principal Engineer
West Yost Associates, Inc.
Tom has over 40 years experience in design, operations and training. Tom was the start-up manager for a $3 billion set of new oil production facilities in Prudhoe Bay Alaska. He developed the start-up team budget, planned the staff involvement and was the on-site day to day leader of the start-up team that had 30 team members (engineers, senior operators and technicians) and an operating budget of $25 million. Start-up was completed over 18 months and within budget and most importantly without any accidents or people getting hurt.
After switching to the wastewater industry in 1988, he has been involved in design, trouble shooting and start-up of many projects. Tom was the resident construction engineer for start-up of the Orange County Sanitation District's 480 mgd ocean outfall booster pump station with five 2600 hp VFD driven pumps. He developed the start-up plan, wrote the programming for control of the pumping system, wrote the O&M manual and presented training to O&M staff. Tom has continued to be involved in mechanical equipment testing, start-up and trouble shooting. Tom is a licensed Professional Engineer in three disciplines: Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Tom still enjoys providing engineering solutions and troubleshooting field issues.
