Emerging Nutrient Removal
Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactors: Full-Scale Implementation and Illustrative Pilots
Practice Area: Engineering & Research
Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactor (MABR) is an innovative technology that facilitates process intensification by increasing capacity of infrastructure for nutrients removal and minimizing aeration energy. Use of gas-permeable membrane to develop nitrifiers-rich counter-diffusional biofilm is a key differentiator of MABR. This paper presents lessons learned from full-scale and pilot-scale plants.
