Basem Elbarouni graduated medical school from Tripoli University, Libya with first on class honors. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the University of Toronto, followed by a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at St. Michael's Hospital, University of Toronto. He is an interventional cardiologist at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, with an appointment of assistant professor at the University of Manitoba. He is the Program Director for the AFC Interventional Cardiology fellowship program. His research interest focus mostly on CTO revascularization outcomes and techniques and CHIP. He has been an invited speaker to several national and international scientific meetings, focusing mainly on complex coronary interventions and chronic total occlusion PCI.
