Dr. Kenneth Rosenfield is an intervention cardiologist at Mass General Hospital, section head of vascular medicine, who performs complex cardiac and vascular interventions. He is a clinical trialist and national principle investigator (PI) for several landmark studies: Superb, ACT 1, and BEST-CLI; he was also national PI of the Aspire, Vascucoil stent, and Levant 2 trials, which led to the first US FDA approvals for renal stents, nitinol femoropopliteal stents, and drug-coated balloons, respectively. He has been involved in device innovation and clinical research throughout his career, serving as a member of several scientific advisory boards for both large and start-up companies. He is immediate past-president of SCAI. He is immediate past-ACC Governor for State of MA, served on the ACC Board of Governors, and was a member of the ACC Interventional Advisory Leadership Council. Served in leadership roles in the AHA, as prior chair of the Cardiac Cath and Intervention Committee, member of Clinical Cardiology Leadership Council, and Boston Heart Ball Executive Committee. Dr. Rosenfield has been lead author or contributor on numerous guidelines documents (Carotid Training and Credentialing Guidelines, PAD Guidelines, Management of Acute Stroke Guideline, Carotid Stenting Expert Consensus Document, and others). He created novel training programs in Vascular Medicine and Intervention and has mentored 100’s of fellows and trainees. Founding Board member of ABVM and VIVA,. He has led the quality improvement initiative in STEMI treatment at MGH, and is currently spearheading the hospital’s effort to redesign AMI care. He helped conceive and implement an innovative interdisciplinary care program (PERT) to treat patients with acute pulmonary embolism, and founded and presides over the National PERT Consortium, a 501c3 organization dedicated to improving outcomes and increasing the evidence base for patients with Pulmonary Embolism. Dr. Rosenfield has published over 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts and numerous chapters.
