Plenary Session - Big Data - Big Data and Perinatal Care
Saturday, February 15, 2020
9:30 AM – 10:00 AM
Location: Husky Great Hall (1st Floor Kinnear Centre)
Identify key implications of the axiom “All lives have equal value” for caregivers and patients in Canada and worldwide
Explain why much published evidence of treatment benefit- in every specialty - is unreliable.
Give examples of inequity in availability of reliable evidence of survival benefit in Perinatal vs Adult care
Interpret a table of sample sizes for trials powered to show moderate (10 or 20%) relative differences in healthy survival reliably with www.sealedenvelope.com or other online calculators.
Endorse and contribute to embedding into routine practice trials that are at least “ten times larger and faster, at one tenth the cost” as envisaged by the ALPHA Collaboration and the ENRICH Initiative.
