Presentation Description: Although there is existing research on wind turbine curtailment technology, there is a lack of information regarding the effect that wind turbines may have on eagle behavior. This study explores eagle behavior around wind turbines to further refine parameters of eagle detection software and to gain insight on the extent to which wind farms may affect eagle ecology.
understand unique data that illustrate the extent to which eagles are aware or unaware of nearby wind turbines.
understand how incorporating awareness as a risk parameter in collision risk models may refine those models.
understand whether the act of curtailment (turbine noise and pressure field changes) may act as a deterrent to eagles, or at least change the awareness state of the eagle.
