This presentation will discuss how to deal with mothers of victims who are "bad" for one or more reasons. These include: know-it-all moms; moms who call every day; moms who don't believe their child; moms who are still in love with the defendant; moms who tell the defense everything you say; uncontrollable moms; and moms who are simply crazy. For each of these "bad moms", the presenters will provide examples from cases as well as provide suggestions on how to handle them and the resources to draw on in doing so. This workshop will be streamed live as scheduled and also be recorded and available On-Demand from August 10, 2020 until December 31, 2020.
Learning Objectives:
Be able to identify the different types of personalities of the mothers of child victims who you will have to interact with during the pendency of you CAC cases
Provide examples, through real life cases, of struggles you might encounter while dealing with the different personalities of the mothers of child-victims
Enable you to identify how to best utiltize various personalities of child-victim mothers during trial
Provide prosecutors, VACs, CAC staff, and investigators with tools to help facilitate, at mimimum, a working relationship with child-victim mothers
