In this workshop, Dr. Turner will discuss the complex concept of grooming: the behaviors that make up the act and the psychology behind them. He draws on his own experience involving hundreds of cases from across the country and also presents findings from his own research into the area of grooming. He will also discuss be grooming of the victim, the family, the environment, and self-grooming of the perpetrator. Lastly, the subsequent behaviors by victims who have been groomed to include attachment to perpetrators, recantation, and delayed outcry will be examined.
