This case study will explore seemingly insurmountable obstacle after insurmountable obstacle in the prosecution of two defendants for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. The five-year-old victim had been repeatedly assaulted by her father over a two-year period. Simultaneously, the victim was also being assaulted by her father's best friend at different times and locations. When her outcry was made, an unorthodox series of events began that made prosecution seem unlikely. Where prosecutors were tenacious, meticulous and prosecuted with passion, justice was served with the initial defendant receiving 375 years and the subsequent defendant receiving 297 years. Learn what can and must be done, no matter the odds, to secure justice for child victims of sexual assault. Attendees to this case study will walk away with the knowledge that no obstacle is too great in seeking justice for children who are victims of sexual assault.
