Drawing on thousands of interviews and decades of experience, the presenters will describe the cognitive and strategic differences between honest individuals and those attempting to be deceptive. We will examine how a child molester thinks when talking to interviewers. We will explain how to recognize and use elements of an offender’s language in an interview to get to the truth. Using videos of offenders during interviews, we will identify ten newly discovered ways guilty parties frame their statements when they are denying child molestation. The presentation also includes an overview of Discourse Analysis, an approach to determining the veracity of a statement. Regardless of how long you’ve been interviewing suspects, you’ll walk away with a few new tools in your belt after attending this workshop. This workshop will be streamed live as scheduled and also be recorded and available On-Demand from August 10, 2020 until December 31, 2020.
