Fear Free Fear Free care is centered around protecting the emotional welfare of pets and people while providing veterinary treatments. Fear in the veterinary environment prompts avoidance and even aggression in patients (and clients!). Over half of clients surveyed avoid making veterinary appointments because their pets are scared to come see us! Using the Fear Free patient evaluation tools and foundation behavior modification skills, learn how to fulfill your true vocation: helping pets be healthy AND happy, one visit at a time. Veterinary medicine is a people business, driven entirely by the human-animal bond. Fear Free veterinary care keeps pets and people safe, and brings more patients through the door every day.
Physical Rehabilitation From the privately-owned small animal practice to multi-specialty veterinary facility, physical rehabilitation is performed by veterinarians, veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants. It is important for veterinary technicians to understand concepts and complementary physical modalities utilized in physical rehabilitation to improve overall patient care delivery, quality of life and pain management options. This course will discuss topics applicable for veterinary technicians working in both private and specialty practices. Areas of instruction will cover interpretation of objective outcome measures, utilization of therapeutic exercise (including emotional health and physical strength) to identify imbalance and compensation; Photobiomodulation application and practical implementation for common medical conditions affecting small animals; casting and patient preparation for custom orthosis impression for animals with non-surgical conditions, comorbidities, or angular deformities; and extracorporeal shockwave therapy application and method of action as it relates to pain management and stimulation of physiological reparative processes. At the completion of this course participants will be able to identify imbalances in patients, perform accurate and effective Photobiomodulation and extracorporeal shockwave therapy, and accurately perform orthosis casting molds for common medical conditions.
