Kathryn Flynn, PhD is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She was trained in sociology (BA, MS) and population health sciences (PhD). Her research focuses on 1) the measure development and analysis of patient-reported outcomes and 2) mixed methods approaches to understanding and improving patient-provider communication and patient decision making. As an investigator in the PROMIS Network—an NIH Roadmap initiative designed to create standardized measures of PROs—she co-developed the PROMIS Sexual Function and Satisfaction measure for men and women. As an investigator in NIDDK’s Symptoms of Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction Research Network (LURN), she led the LURN Recall Study to formally evaluate how well men and women are able to self-report their symptoms over various time periods, comparing daily reports to 3-, 7-, and 30-day recalled reports.
