Assistant Professor
University of Miami
Dr Himanshu Arora is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Urology at Sylvester Cancer Centre, University of Miami. His PhD training was in Medical Science from Seoul National University, South Korea where he studied the role of microRNA’s in cancer by focusing on aspects like epithelial-mesenchymal transition and coordinated interaction between genes and miRNAs before and upon exposure to chemo and radio therapy. Then he did his first Post-Doctoral training in CNRS, University of Strasbourg, France in 2014, where he focused on new aspects of Developmental Biology to study stem cell regenerative mechanisms during embryonic development.
In the year 2016, Dr Arora joined University of Miami, Florida, USA as a Postdoctoral research scientist where he focused on Translational Urological Research, studying role of- (a) Nitroso-Redox imbalance and Secondary Hypogonadism, (b) Therapeutic role of Nitric Oxide (NO) in regulating castration resistance prostate cancer (CRPC) tumor micro-environment and (c) Evaluating Leydig stem cell autograft as a novel therapeutic modality for men with low testosterone. His vast experience in the field helped in bringing and managing several translation researches projects which led to several peer reviewed articles, patents, and grants. Currently, his lab is studying the role of Nitric oxide as an Immunotherapy option against Prostate cancer progression from androgen dependent to androgen independent, castration resistant PCa. Additionally, his lab is actively involved in using machine learning as a tool to study progression in PCa patients.
