Baldrige Performance Excellence Program
Jacqueline (Jackie) DesChamps is a Business Specialist and senior staff member with the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program (BPEP) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The BPEP educates organizations in performance excellence management and administers the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the highest presidential recognition that a US-based organization can achieve for demonstrating role model practices in organizational performance excellence in the business, health care, and education sectors. During her 22 years with the BPEP, she has served in many leadership positions and is currently the supervisor for the program’s support services and member of the leadership team. Jackie also serves as an EEO Collateral Duty Counselor for NIST. She has been recognized for her innovative leadership style which inspires her staff to be passionate about their work to produce exceptional outcomes. Jackie is an accomplished speaker and presents Baldrige concepts to organizations throughout the United States and facilitates Baldrige-based workshops to assist organizations embark on their performance excellence journey using the Baldrige Excellence Framework. Jackie has received numerous awards for her leadership effectiveness. In 2015, she along with another BPEP staff member received third place in the World Standards Day Paper Competition for the co-authored submission “How Baldrige Standards Have Become the Common Language for Organizational Excellence Around the World”. Jackie received her Bachelor of Science degree from Carlow College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a Masters Degree in Not-for-Profit Management from the University of Maryland University College.
