Dr. Kai Yang is a Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Wayne State University. Professor Yang is an expert in Lean Six Sigma, quality engineering, and data analytics. Professor Yang is a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, and he is awarded the Cecil C Craig Lifetime Achievement Award by the Automotive Division of American Society of Quality in 2016.
Professor Yang is the author of eight books. Prof. Yang’s book, Design for Six Sigma is an influential book that provides a framework to integrate both innovation methods, and traditional statistical quality assurance methods into the product development process. Dr. Yang obtained both his MS and PhD degrees from the University of Michigan.
Dr. Yang has been awarded many sponsored projects in the area of quality control by General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler. His team played key roles in developing quality control software systems for more than 16 assembly plants for Chrysler and GM. Professor Yang involved in 4 sponsored projects funded by Siemens that drastic reduced product development lead time. Since 2007, Dr. Yang has successfully leveraged his statistical and quality engineering expertise in healthcare systems engineering.
Dr Yang conducted numerous trainings for many companies, such as Apple Inc and Siemens for hundreds of quality managers and quality engineers.
