Presentation Description: Lean and Six Sigma deployments depend not only on solid content, good execution and visible leadership support, but on the identification of the best candidates to train and involve in the first place. Failed deployments can often be tied to situations in which the importance of candidate selection was dismissed, and the wrong staff were invited into the program. Enthusiasm and availability are good criteria, but far from all the specifications necessary to identify candidates that will succeed vs. struggle once the expectations about conducting improvement work become known. Fortunately, it is possible to avoid the pitfalls of poor candidate selection and to avoid the rework that comes from allowing the wrong people “on the bus.” This session will introduce the framework for understanding Emotional Intelligence, enabling participants to engage in self-reflection while understanding how to best engage with others, based on their behavior style, and to identify the very best candidates to involve in their improvement initiatives.
