M09 - Practice Makes Perfect: Better Learning with Simulation
Monday, February 24, 2020
10:45 AM – 11:45 AM
Location: Courtroom MN
Presentation Description: The best path for a new quality professional is to learn, practice, apply, and master. Simulations provide the ideal format for today’s workforce to practice and apply critical thinking and basic quality tools. Join us for an overview of simulation-based learning, the benefits realized by companies who use it, and ideas you can implement in your organization. Attendees will do a quick walk-thru of a virtual DMAIC simulation with a unique storyline. We’ll review example designs used for publicly-offered Blended Black Belt certification, introductory Lean curriculum, and Kaizen Leader training to provide practical ideas to take back and implement. By providing realistic practice before assigning real projects, practitioners can truly achieve the level of competence and confidence required to quickly complete critical projects.
Understand how to improve learning outcomes by using simulations to achieve the higher levels of Blooms Taxonomy, e.g. Applying, Analyzing, Evaluating, and Creating.
Experience how practice, in the form of hands-on exercises and role-playing simulations, produces practitioners who are better prepared to complete projects, accelerating the rate of project completion.
Become familiar with the use of simulations and games for the purpose of developing activity-based learning programs.
Start to implement simulation-based learning with a few take home instructional examples.
