Best of Lean and Six Sigma in the Digital Age
Concurrent Sessions (M15 - M20)
Presentation Description: This session revisits the importance of effective planning before engaging in process improvement or redesign. Quality is not just a set of tools, concepts, or policies; it is the way work is performed every day. One of the major characteristics of a Modular Kaizen approach to improvement is effective planning before action is taken. Modular Kaizen uses the concepts of lean and, more recently, Agile, to decompose process improvement or redesign into manageable activities within normal daily work. A generic process improvement project flow is introduced, with suggested tools and techniques for team members, leaders and facilitators. An example developed by a former NASA Quality Manager illustrates the importance of pre-team initiation preparation. This session is designed for entry level quality practitioners and team leads or facilitators. Process improvement using the concepts of lean are effective using either the PDC/SA or DMAIC sequence.
