Presentation Description: Four types of data scientists will be described in detail: 1) the strategist (computer expert), 2) the boundary spanner (advanced analytics specialist), 3) the applications ninja (expert at applying analytics), and 4) the communicator or storyteller (ensures that analytics are understood by Senior Management). This presentation will describe how the levels of Data Scientist can communicate not only with each other, but also with Senior Management. Advances in robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and connected devices produces high volumes of data at high velocities. This data rich environment can and should be embraced to benefit Six Sigma projects. Senior Management has a tendency to believe that “anything data” belongs to Information Technology (IT) or Operational Technology (OT in the case of robotics and AI data). Strategies will be presented to show methods for management to support to create a collaboration of subject matter experts; i.e., IT, engineering, quality, marketing, etc. to best take advantage of Big Data within an organization for better, and more consistent, decision-making.
