T26 - Using Toyota Kata to Improve and Sustain Change

Presentation Description: Understanding and practicing the principles of Kata can help develop the skills and habits of true continuous improvement and sustainable change. In the presentation Using Toyota Kata to Improve & Sustain Change participants will learn:

• How the Toyota Kata was “discovered” and why it is the next evolution of Lean, a simple but powerful methodology to create and sustain change that supports and enhances Lean tools and methods already in use;
• The fundamental Improvement and Coaching “routines” of Toyota Kata (as developed and taught by Lean guru Mike Rother); and
• How Kata can be used to approach any challenge, personal or professional, including properly structuring and setting up a Kata Storyboard, demonstrating the Kata methodology in a simple but fun real-world application … striving to lower a golfer’s handicap.
