T06 - SMA: a $6M Turnaround Story Featuring Lean Six Sigma
Tuesday, February 25, 2020
9:15 AM – 10:15 AM
Location: Courtroom OP
Presentation Description: Application of LSS techniques is often overlooked, not only by organizations that traditionally seek solutions from the IT team, but from the Software Delivery teams themselves. SMA Reporting is a story of how a single Software Development team effected the turnaround of a $6M program by applying Lean & Six Sigma techniques to the processes of large-scale software development. It wasn’t an easy nor a straight-forward process but it was effective in addressing the challenges and opportunities brought on by large-scale, global Agile software development.
Learning Objectives:
A case study of Lean & Six Sigma techniques applied to software delivery leading to a major program turnaround in the criteria of quality, speed, and ultimately cost.
Checklist of discovered best practices and when & how to apply them.
How to create, prioritize, and visualize standardized custom software delivery at scale while being globally dispersed.
How to build quality into the software development process at scale for total coverage rather than relying on the outdated and insufficient inspection method,
How to establish, encourage, and sustain continuous improvement in large-scale, globally diverse software delivery programs.
