Maryam Rahmati Ishka earned her Ph.D. in 2015 from the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) from Jeff Harper lab in the Biochemistry department, where she worked on the project entitled: “Genetic Analyses Of Calcium Circuits In Arabidopsis Vegetative And Reproductive Development”. She joined Cornell University in 2017 and is currently a postdoc in the School of Integrative Plant Science, Soil and Crop Sciences Section at Vatamaniuk lab. Her research is focused on the effect of mineral nutrient copper in plant fertility, with special focus on male fertility. Her research interest also includes uncovering molecular mechanisms underlying the male sensitivity in different abiotic stresses including heat stress.
