André Laroche has obtained a B.Sc. (Biology) and a M.Sc. (Biology - Plant Physiology) from Université de Sherbrooke (QC) and a Ph.D. (Plant Science) from Western University (ON). Following a Visitor Fellowship at the Plant Research Centre (Ottawa, ON), he joined the Lethbridge Research and Development Centre (Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada) in 1989 as a Cereal Molecular Geneticist. His current research interests include the identification and characterization of novel stripe rust resistance genes and the interaction between wheat and Puccinia striiformis, cereal protection against pathogens and utilisation of genome editing and RNAi of cereal genes to improve their response to biotic and abiotic resistance stresses.
