Susan Lawrence is a Research Molecular Biologist at the USDA-ARS in Beltsville Maryland in the Invasive Insect Biocontrol and Behavior Lab since joining the USDA-ARS in July 1998. Her work focuses on plant defense against insect infestation. Molecular approaches are utilized to investigate resistance to pest insects of agricultural crops such as potato, tomato, corn and cole crops. Current work has concentrated on a subset of Q-type C2H2 zinc finger proteins that are stress responsive. She graduated with a BS from Beloit College and a PhD in Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Florida Gainesville.
