Dr. Rob Horsch is currently on the boards of the Foundation for Food and Agricultural Research and the 2Blades Foundation, and is an advisor to the Global Farmer Newtwork and the Commission on Global Adaptation. He retired from the Bill & Melinda Foundation in November 2018 where he lead the science and technology initiative of the agricultural development program, awarding over $1.5 billion in grants over 12 years to research institutions around the world aimed at improving the productivity of small holder farmers by improving the crops and livestock that poor farmers raise and poor consumers eat. Previously employed by Monsanto Company, he progressed from basic biological research to transgenic product development to International Development Partnerships helping to bring better science & technology to farmers around the world. He was awarded the 1998 National Medal of Technology by President Clinton for contributions to the development of agricultural biotechnology.
