This session is designed to celebrate the life of Dr. Mary E. Clutter (https://aspb.org/wipb-pioneer-biographies/#tab-id-1), who passed away on December 9, 2019. Dr. Clutter spent most of her career at the US National Science Foundation (NSF). At NSF, she devoted her life to the advancement of biological sciences in general and plant sciences in particular, as well as to increasing participation of women and underrepresented minorities in science. Dr. Clutter pushed the frontiers of science by creating innovative programs, opening up new research and training opportunities, and skillfully securing funding for the new initiatives. Fifteen years after her retirement from NSF, the impact of her work continues to reverberate throughout the plant science community. To pay tribute to Dr. Clutter's vision of plant biology, four speakers from across the generation will present science at the cutting edge.
