The DOE Office of Science sponsors basic research at over 300 institutions across the country, including universities, national laboratories, nonprofits, and private sector institutions.
We administer research through six major program offices, spanning a broad range of disciplines: Advanced Scientific Computing Research, Basic Energy Sciences, Biological and Environmental Research, Fusion Energy Sciences, High Energy Physics, and Nuclear Physics.
The DOE Office of Science Early Career Research Program provides annual funding opportunities for outstanding early career scientists in the disciplines supported by the DOE Office of Science.
In addition, our Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists sponsors student internships and other education and training programs at DOE’s 17 national laboratories.
