In the immediate future, communities most vulnerable to climate change will be forced to choose between retreating from high risk areas or preserving people’s houses. To guide community leaders in making rational decisions, our profession must understand the cultural context of these choices and strive to redefine societal preconceptions of ‘Home’, freeing communities to transcend their built environment.
