Ken Freedman, M.D., MS, MBA, FACP, DFASAM, AGAF
Dr. Ken Freedman is Averhealth’s Chief Medical Officer. He also serves as Medical Director, SE Territory for Aetna / CVS Health and as a Physician Consultant for The Recovery Research Network. Previously Dr. Freedman was Chief Medical Officer of Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Boston, an urban inpatient teaching facility that cares for many patients with substance use disorders. He educated the next generation of health care providers through his roles as Clinical Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine and Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He is board certified in addiction medicine, internal medicine and gastroenterology.
Ken is an active member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine where he serves as Treasurer and Chair of the Quality Improvement Council and ASAM’s Science Initiative. He is a member of American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Gastroenterological Association, and American College of Gastroenterology.
Ken earned a Bachelor of Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master of Science from Stanford, a Doctor of Medicine from Tel Aviv University, and a Health Care Focused Master of Business Administration from University of Hartford.
