Director, Archaeology and History, Parks Canada
As Director, Archaeology and History, Mr. Picher is responsible for managing a dedicated team of archaeologists, technicians and historians who are passionate about protecting and presenting Canada’s national treasures. Mr. Picher joined the Parks Canada team in 1999 as a University of Ottawa co-operative student helping build the web feature This Week in History. With a passion for history, cultural heritage and national historic sites, Mr. Picher has held a variety of positions and provided leadership with respect to policy and program development. Prior to becoming Director, Mr. Picher was Field Unit Superintendent for Southwestern Ontario which was responsible for managing 13 national historic sites and one national park from Niagara-on-the-Lake to Windsor.
