Fraser’s interest in heritage began in the historic landscapes of Nova Scotia and led to degrees in Anthropology and Environmental Design (Planning) from the University of Toronto and University of Calgary. He has worked for nearly thirty years in municipal and provincial government, helping Alberta’s heritage property owners with Main Street revitalization, historic resource designation, grant program support, and conservation planning.
