Mojgan Nejad is an Assistant Professor with a joint appointment in Forestry and Chemical Engineering Departments at the Michigan State University. She has a bachelor’s degree in applied chemistry and a Ph.D. in Wood Coating. Her Ph.D. dissertation, conducted at the University of Toronto, focused on “Modeling correlation between coating properties and their weathering performance.” Dr. Nejad also holds a Professor (status only) position at the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department at the University of Toronto. Her current research projects are focused on developing biobased coatings, adhesives, and foams, and most of them are conducted in close collaborations with industry partners. Dr. Nejad and POET have won the 2018 Adhesive and Sealant Council Small Business-Innovation Award for replacing 100% of phenol with lignin in the phenolic resin formulation.
