Shawn embraced traditional hot lime mortars early in his career as a conservation mason and stonecarver and has used traditional and modern masonry repair methods across western Canada for over 15 years. Notable projects include Medalta Potteries and Hycroft China in Medicine Hat Clay Industries National Historic Site of Canada; Memorial Park Library in Calgary; and Craigdarroch Castle National Historic Site in Victoria, British Columbia. Shawn specializes in the use and adaptation of traditional repair methods to demanding cold-climate environments. He has received awards and media attention for his work and educational workshops promoting masonry conservation in Canada.
