Marie has a MA Architecture and a PhD in Architectural history from NTNU. She has a Post-doc position at the Department of Architectural Design History and Technology at NTNU. She has worked for many years as a Cultural Heritage Manager in the county of Sør-Trøndelag as both advisor and representing the legal authorities, having special responsibility for the listed buildings in Røros Mining Town World Heritage Site. Since 2013 she has been the Director of cultural heritage management at the Nidaros Cathedral Workshop in Trondheim. Throughout her career, Marie has worked towards raising awareness of traditional crafts and the need for its knowledge and development in restoration projects connected to wooden crafts. Her Post Doc position at NTNU is about creating new research projects on traditional crafts’ knowledge and for a study on the restoration history of the Arch-Bishop’s Palace in Trondheim. Marie is a guest Professor of Cultural Heritage Management at Xi`an University of Architecture and Technology in Shaanxi, PR China, and was President of ICOMOS Norway 2011-2015.
