Description: Gap to be addressed- The development and implementation of a student-centered perioperative clinical worksheet including objectives, questions, reflection, resources, and debrief questions were sent to faculty with students rotating through a perioperative observation experience. Outcome- One out of three faculty required students to complete the worksheet to arrive prepared for the perioperative observation experience (30 students over 18 weeks in 2018). The majority of the students reported successful completion of objectives, with a few exceptions. The prepared student questions, reflection, thoughts on approach to a second observation day, and recommendation for future students demonstrate awareness of the caring and work of perioperative nursing. Conclusions and implications- Faculty that require students to arrive at the perioperative clinical observation with an expectation for clinical preparedness offer the students a more substantive experience as demonstrated by their comments and request for a clinical debrief focused on perioperative nursing. Perioperative nursing staff report increased job satisfaction with student worksheet feedback and have a more positive approach to the student observation.
