In the first 6 months of 2018 we instructed 37 interim staff and the 2nd half of 2019 we instructed 40. Developing a system orientation program was important for our health system to create, in an effort to assist our facility site educators with onboarding these temporary employeesDESIGN DESCRIPTIONOur Institute for Nursing Educators provide staff with education regarding:a. Patient identificationb. Glucometer testingc. Blood Administration and transfusion safetyOperating Room program covers education on the following topics: a. Instrument managementb. Universal protocolc. Pre-surgical requirements and Handoff communicationd. Surgical countse. Surgical attiref. Surgical implant safetyg. Instrument Defect ReportingThis program offers our interim staff the opportunity to ask questions about our system policies.Upon arrival to site temporary staff will receive a tour, computer access and a scavenger hunt. They are assigned and paired with preceptors for a minimum of one week and extended if necessary, depending on the needs of the temporary employee and site requirements.Methodology Qualitative Study1.
