116 - Improvement of Working Pressure of Nurses in Operating Room of Children's Hospital
Clinical Issue: High Working Pressure of Nurses in Operating Room of Children's HospitalDescription of Team:We are from the operating room of Children's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, China. There are 8 members in the QCC team. 2 head nurses , 2 chief nurses ,4 nurses .Preparation and Planning:Operating room nurses are faced with all kinds of stress since their work features high intensity, great responsibilities and challenges, resulting in work pressure for operating room staff from different aspects. All of these will affect work efficiency, and even constitute hidden dangers of medical safety. Our hospital is children's hospital. For the operating room of children's hospital where the compliance of patients is low and their physiological functions are not fully mature, there will be many other pressures facing the nurses in operating room, which are different from those of general hospitals. We plan to carry out investigation on the working pressure of nurses in the operating room of our hospital. And we will seek improvement measures to relieve the pressure of the operating room staff by adopting the method of quality control circle, promoting the safety culture of the operating room.Assessment :We made a questionnaire to evaluate all the nursing staff in the department based on the Chinese Nurse Work Stress Source Scale and the characteristics of the operating room in Children's Hospital. Details of questions will be shown in the Poster . Implementation We made statistical analysis of the results of this survey and found that the most stressful problems for nurses in operating rooms of children's hospitals were as follows: 1,The sense of insecurity caused by the concern of errors and accidents in daily work; 2,The increase of work fatigue with the surge of operation in paediatric operating room during winter and summer vacation. 3,The great span of service targets in pediatric operating room in terms of age and weight has greatly increased the difficulty of work. We carried out three rounds discussions to analyze the main causes of these problems, and determined the sources of these stresses via fishbone diagram.We carried out targeted improvement measures, including Strengthen the communication, Improve work arrangement system, set up SOP , and the details will be shown in the Posters .
Results: After the intervention, we conducted another stress survey on the operating room nurses , now the data has been processed , and we will publish the improved results in the POSTER.
Conclusion: The pressure sources of nursing staff in children's operating room are not only common with those in general hospitals, but also specific in children's hospital. The investigation and improvement of the pressure on nursing staff in operating room of children's hospital are of great value to provide a good reference for the management of operating room in children's hospital, which is also helpful to improve the efficiency of operating room work.
