The first purpose is to find out less usability of instruments to deduct the budget of reprocessing. The second purpose is to monitor the usability frequency of devices and avoid broken fragments from old fragile instruments. The third purpose of the project is to reduce the mistaken assembly of surgical trays. And UDI system application is an international trend in healthcare facilities to avoid mistakes. Preparation and planning For planning the program, created profiles of instruments and surgical trays were the first priority. Raising budget for project with financial manager of the hospital. Assessment and implementation The management system includes two scanners, one locates in the hands-off room to confirm corrective instruments from the operation theatre, and the other one establishes in assembling room to record corrective instruments in surgical trays. All surgical instruments have a tracking history profile about the frequency of use, reprocessing and maintenance record. The system informs employee when the instruments are overused. The overused instruments entry the maintenance cycle to assure the quality of surgical instruments. Outcome Based on one-year statistics, the Central Supply Room has 124 surgical trays, 15000 surgical instruments, and 1513 items through maintenance procedure. The storage site of access devices kept in the hospital has been adjusted optimized, and overtime hours of nurses have also been significantly shortened. Before the implementation of the traceability system, a series of preparations are required. First, the hospital needs to evaluate the number of devices it holds. The next step is to establish a primary database and engrave UDI marking on all the instruments and perform the identity of each device.
