Description: Background and Significance of the Research Neurosurgery is delicate, complex surgery involving the brain and spinal cord system. The surgical procedures involves a small surface area and is often difficult to visualize. Lighting of the surgical area is critical to the success of the surgery. The use of overhead ceiling lights is often insufficient to illuminate the precise surgical area. A head-light is often used by the neurosurgeon to focus on the surgical site. However, there are limitations to the head-lights. The surgeon cannot use their hands to adjust the position of the head light and the light from the back of the surgeon's head to the external light source. Ten surgeons agreed to trial the flexible light innovation in 20 surgical cases. According to the results, it was found that all of surgeons were satisfied with the invention. The personnel at the unit were 95% satisfied with the flexible light.
