April Hobbs is a recent graduate of the MLIS program at the University of South Carolina. She graduated with her MLIS in May 2019. She also has a B.A. in Communication Studies from Young Harris College. While in the MLIS program, she became involved with this project in the Fall of 2017 and has continued working on the project ever since. She served as the Vice President of LISSA (Library and Information Science Student Association) during her last year in the MLIS program, and the student chapter won the ALA Student Chapter of the Year for 2019. She also received the William M. Trafton III Outstanding Student Award for Leadership in the Spring of 2019 from the School of Library and Information Science. While at Young Harris College, she was involved with the Media Studies Research Collective and worked on research involving geographic stereotypes and popular culture.
