Associate Librarian & Coordinator, Diversity Alliance Residency Program
Nikhat J. Ghouse (pronounced NIK-Khath Goss) is the Associate Librarian for the Social Sciences and Coordinator of the Diversity Alliance Residency Program at American University (AU). In addition to working in libraries for 19 years, Nikhat is also an Organization Development (OD) Consultant. She has worked with nonprofit organizations including public libraries and the Association of Research Libraries. As an OD Consultant, Nikhat specializes in organization development, change management, strategic planning, organizational culture, diversity, equity, inclusion, leadership training, coaching, team development, mentoring, and residency programs.
Nikhat received her Master of Science in Organization Development from American University. She earned her MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh and her BA in History from Cleveland State University. Nikhat is an alumna of the 2011-2012 Association of Research Libraries’ Leadership & Career Development Program (LCDP) and a 2004 Teacher Track Program of the ACRL Immersion Program. Additionally, Nikhat earned a Professional Certificate in Cultural Competence from the Institute for Cross Cultural Management at the Florida Institute of Technology.
Prior to AU, Nikhat was at the University of Kansas for nearly 11 years as a tenured Associate Librarian where she held numerous positions including supporting the social sciences, outreach, information literacy instruction, collection development, graduate research, and learning commons. Ghouse was also employed by the College of Wooster Libraries and the University of Pittsburgh Libraries.
