Librarian, Sociology Professor & EDI Consultant Lewis University
Within the broader social and political landscape of civil rights, this program will discuss the life and professional career of librarian, educator and activist E.J Josey. It will specifically highlight his contributions to the American Library Association, with great emphasis focused on his 1964 resolution that disbanded segregation. Revisiting Josey’s legacy during the 50th anniversary of BCALA, will help librarians embrace a model of his successful leadership and take up his charge of pushing forward despite many of the barriers we are confronted with today.
