SparkTalks: Igniting Ideas for Serving Persons with Print Disabilities
Join us for a series of 8 separate Spark Talks of five minutes each that discuss services to the growing population of print disabled users. Professionals from different libraries and agencies throughout the country will present on a range of topics about expanding access and removing reading barriers. You will leave this session with a deeper understanding of technologies, like synthetic voice technology and screen readers, that are changing how patrons with print disabilities can access information and you'll learn ways that you can integrate these tools into your service models. Hear how libraries are using programming to combat the social isolation that older adults, veterans and other individuals with obstacles to reading may experience. From outreach programs to international partnerships to redefining and rebranding traditional models of service, you will come away with ideas to help bring this expanding patron base together in your community and remove their barriers to information.
