Nobody wants a disaster to strike their community...but they do happen. Unfortunately, they almost never happen when you have enough staff to adequately address the disaster. If only there were a group of capable people in your community who were present 24/7 who could be trained to respond to just about any disaster...

In this session, attendees will be challenged to develop and train their residents to respond to large-scale emergencies in their communities. They will be provided with a model of Resident-Led Emergency Response that won the 2019 Oregon Health Care Resident Group Enrichment of Life Award.

Learning Objectives:

Know what an ERT is
Know the need and the benefits of training residents to respond to large-scale emergencies within a community.
Know the model for developing a Resident-Led Emergency Response Team within a Senior Living (independent and Assisted) community.
Obtain the tools necessary to launch a Resident-Led Emergency Response Team within a Senior Living community.
