Eleanor Roosevelt said “Learn from the mistakes of others. You can't live long enough to make them all yourself.” Session will review recent Health & Human Services post-acute enforcement actions. Program will emphasize Departmental Appeals Board cases and Administrative Law Judge decisions for survey and certification and a review of recent case law relating to post-acute care providers. Recent cases have included Section 1557 compliance violations; handling of resident funds; failure to have business associate agreements; and inadequately addressing sexual interactions between cognitively impaired residents. OIG also announced COVID-19 CARES act provider relief fund investigations that will impact post-acute regarding the reporting and use of the funds received. This presentation is geared toward Executive Directors, Business Office Managers, compliance officers, and in-house counsel for providers, and will address common issues that arise, as well as tips and tools to avoid them.
