This presentation will focus on the pandemic “bug” called COVID-19 and its characteristics, how it compares to past pandemic viruses, and how that information applies to the development of relevant cleaning and disinfection practices.
Learning Objectives:
Articulate the characteristics of the COVID-19 virus, as compared with previous pandemic respiratory viruses.
Discuss the modes of transmission of the COVID-19 virus, especially in regard to environmental contamination.
Verbalize the practices of cleaning and disinfection, especially as they pertain to reducing the risk of transmission to susceptible individuals.
Articulate the scientific concepts of cleaning and disinfection for reducing virus transmission risk.
Describe the difference between cleaning and disinfection for routine prevention of virus transmission, versus cleaning and disinfection in an outbreak situation.
Describe the characteristics of the COVID-19 virus and its relationship to previous respiratory virus pandemics.
