I am a composer with an Artificial Intelligence (AI) background. I studied music and computer science in Brazil and at the University of York, in England. I subsequently received a PhD with a thesis on sound design with AI from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. I worked at Sony Computer Science Laboratory in Paris as a research scientist in the fields of AI, speech, and the evolution of language. Currently, I am a Professor in Computer Music at the University of Plymouth, where I created the Interdisciplinary Centre for Computer Music Research (ICCMR).
