Media Department, Metropolitan Opera
Multiple-Emmy-award-winning Mark Schubin is a Life Fellow of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers and winner of their 2017 Presidential Proclamation. He has been working professionally in television since 1967 and has been (freelance) engineer-in-charge for the media department of the Metropolitan Opera since 1973. He has published hundreds of articles and papers and has given many talks, including at previous AES conventions. He has been responsible for a number of "firsts," including the first live television show with stereo sound available to more than half of U.S. television households. His special interest is the intersecting histories of media technology and opera.
