Digital tools are changing dramatically the way we practice dentistry. From intra-oral scanners to cone beam CT to 3D printers, a new set of tools is available for the dental community. This program presents an interprofessional model tailored to advanced dental education programs and involving multidisciplinary specialists in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and Prosthodontics. The presenters will discuss: (1) how each specialty can interact and collaborate with these technologies; (2) the impact of digital tools in dental education; and (3) pathways to prepare future graduates to incorporate digital workflow options into the contemporary dental practice environment.
Identify advantages and shortcomings associated with digital technologies available in dentistry.
Explain the characteristics of different types of equipment, 3D printers and software used in the digital workflow.
Describe the benefits of creating a multidisciplinary team to implement digital technologies into the dental curriculum.
